Forest storeys - Forest biodiversity

To encourage students to look closer at forest environments and gain a greater appreciation of habitat diversity.
How it works:

Lead students on a walk through an area where several layers (strata or storeys) are evident in the vegetation. Ask them to identify the forest profile and discuss what habitat opportunities are available at each level.

Use the sighting scopes to focus attention on to small details

Students can then draw the forest and label different habitats at different levels (storeys) within it.

What you'll need:
Sighting scopes (cardboard tunes)
Optional: note paper and pencils
