The Green Line - Dandenong Ranges Fire 1997
The last major fire in the Dandenong Ranges was in 1997. Five fires were deliberately lit along the western side of the range, destroying 41 homes and killing three people. Victoria's three fire fighting agencies worked together to control the fire - the Country Fire Authority (CFA), the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, now called the Department of Environment and Primary Industry (DEPI).
This 11 minute video covers all aspects of fire including weather, equipment, training, prevention and safety. A student worksheet is available.
